Westville in, you guessed it, the West Village (in NYC), is the sort of restaurant with something for everyone…but not in that 3am at a diner in NJ “yes-we-have-crabmeat-stuffed-and-broiled-scrod” kind of way. Westville just had a great variety spanking from market veggies , for the more health conscious, and Mac n cheese with bacon…for the even more health conscious.
I ate only two dishes during my time at Westville but both were impressive.
To start, I enjoyed a plate of parmesan-roasted artichokes (pictured above). Perfectly roasted to the ideal combination of textures: soft and delicate hearts, with crispy edges.
After that, I had the fried fish sandwich (also pictured above), and trust me, the McDonald’s “filet-o-fish” ain’t got shit on this sandwich. Fried perch, coleslaw, romain, tartar…perfection. It was the perfect combination of textures and flavor. Who thought something so simple could be so well executed? Notable mention: the fried were also perfect.
I didn’t get the Mac n cheese or Banana Nutella whoopee pies, but you can bet your sweet ass I’ll be back on a cheat day.
